Donetsk is located in eastern Ukraine. It can be called its mining capital. The city was founded in the XVII century by Zaporozhski Cossacks on the banks of the river Kalmius where they mined coal. If we have look into the history of the city, its name has changed several times. The city originally was called Yuzivka, named in honor of John Hughes of its founder. Later it was renamed to Stalino, after 1961 it received its present name from the river Northern Donets. The city is among the five most populous cities in the country. Donetsk is close to the Sea of Azov. There are two reservoir in Donetsk first is Donetsk sea and Nizhnekalmiusskoe reservoir second. If we consider the architecture of the city we will notice two directions-Stalinist and contemporary. There are a lot of attractions in Donetsk. Some of them are Regional Philharmonic, several theaters, hundreds of museums, more than two hundred monuments, planetarium, cultural centers, dolphin, water park, botanical garden, and the city's many clubs, shopping malls, lots of squares, which are famous for their planting rose bushes, they are already in Donetsk more than a million. We should also note the Donbass Arena a huge modern stadium with a capacity of more than fifty thousand fans. The industry of Donetsk is highly developed. The most developed - coal mining, metallurgy, engineering and chemical industry. There is several steel mills, mines, chemical reagents plant, refrigeration plant in the city. Donetsk has a developed infrastructure. There are railway station, two bus stations, a plurality of bus stations, the airport. The city has many hotels, business centers and shops. The city has its own coat of arms and flag. Previously Donetsk was the city of more than million inhabitants but then came the Russian world. Now population of the city lives in the building basements and they are afraid of artillery and rocket fire. There is the monstrous destruction of infrastructure in Donetsk. Periodically electricity, gas, heating, water, pensions, wages, entire walls and windows are absent. All these are became luxury. Worst of all is to old people, they do not receive pensions (it tiny used to be, but enough for bread). In the press and on the Internet began to appear reports of starvation had occupied in areas in Donetsk and Lugansk regions, as well as old people died of starvation. There is beginning of real humanitarian catastrophe in Donbas. The situation of the ex-industrial centers of Ukraine is getting worse every day during December 2015. Despite numerous cease-fire agreements, the city is regularly hit by artillery shelling. The fighting on the outskirts of Donetsk in Prokofiev's airport happens every day. Pro-Russian and Russian forces are trying to beat the Ukrainian army units out from their positions. Below you can see two photos of the same Donetsk airport to compare. The first one is before the arrival of the first Russian troops and mercenaries, the second photo is the Russian world in all its glory, this is the new reality on the Ukrainian Donbas.
It looks very strange but I think the first picture is more preferably for me. But our Russian brothers decided just the opposite. By the link is main page of our car rental web-site in Boryspil and Kiev. |
