New traffic rules in Ukraine

Traffic rules in Ukraine was updated on 15.04.13. Our site should mention about the changes in the traffic rules as a lot of our customers are foreigners and it will be helpful to know what is right and what is wrong. A man came to visit Ukraine and hiring a car in Kiev Boryspil airport and he/she should to know these details in order to avoid fines by traffic police (police).

 For example, according to the modified rules the road (traffic) signs are predominate over the road layout, if there is a contradiction, we need to determine the order of movement of the instructions of the permanent traffic signs. This innovation clarifies the situation on the roads, but the markings and signs should complement each other but not contradict it. Of cause it is good for traffic police and the state in whole as penalties has not been canceled and it increases state profit.

Also concept of darkness was changed, now is the time from sunset to sunrise and low beam must be enabled in order to avoid a penalty by traffic police.

Now, starting from October 1 till April 31 headlights must be on at the exit of the town or village 24 hours a day. Also added new traffic signs to the list of existing ones, for example - "The beginning and the end of the tram stop", "Fixing violations - photos and video", "Religious buildings."

Added 2 color marks on the road layout - blue (parking on the roadway), orange (temporary) to the former white and blue.

The use of child seats is not mandatory in Ukraine, as not all cars are adapted to their installation.
