Ukraine is 2nd largest country in Europe by territory, only Russia is bigger. Population in 2013 is about 45 million people, it decreased by 7 million from 2001. The main reasons were the significant emigration, increased mortality, and a sharp decline in the birth rate. Ukraine is located in Eastern Europe, bordered by Poland, Russia, Romania, Belarus, Moldova, Slovakia, Hungary and the Dniester republic (the self-proclaimed and unrecognized in the world).

The capital of Ukraine - Kiev, a city of nearly 3 million inhabitants, located in the north of the country. Kiev is an ancient city, industrial and cultural center, whose history begins over 1500 years ago.

The climate of Ukraine - moderate in most of the territory, except for the southern coast of Crimea, where the climate is subtropical, the most northern subtropics in the world, due to the Crimean mountains, closing the north of cold air masses.

In the south Ukraine is washed by two seas, which means the resort areas and attraction for tourists. The largest number of  tourists are from the former Soviet Union (Russia and Belarus). And the Black Sea and Azov Sea coast strewn recreation departments and private pensions (in recent years). Also, a large number of tourists stay in the private sector.

Another resort area located in the west of Ukraine is Carpathian Mountains (mostly in the winter). There's also the infrastructure of hotels and mountain ski lodges.

Tourism in Ukraine is very seasonal phenomenon due to the feature of the climate. Due to the large influx of tourists in the summer, especially in the south of Ukraine there are considerable difficulties in purchasing tickets for rail transport as the most budget way. Also, there is an overload, and other modes of transport - bus and air. Car rental in Ukraine is experiencing a significant shortage of vehicles in July and August, so travelers should think in advance and buy or reserve tickets or car.

Legislation of Ukraine is very favorable for the protection of the rights and freedoms of citizens, but unfortunately does not always work correctly due to the developed system of corruption.

Ukraine's population is multi-ethnic, the majority of Ukrainians (78%) and Russian (17%), is also home to the Belarusians, Bulgarians, Moldovans, Crimean Tatars, Hungarians, Romanians, Poles, Jews, Armenians and Greeks. The main languages spoken in Ukraine - Russian and Ukrainian.
