The mentality of the Ukrainians

Perhaps the biggest challenge for the Ukrainian people is our own mentality. Let’s look at people whom we elect to higher positions, for example. Very often kleptomania of all kinds is motto of Ukrainian politicians, and we believe their empty promises every time, words that do not cost anything, but the validity of such politicians and officials lead to permanent robbery of the population. Let’s look the history of the last 100 years, these not very decent people done. But we still do not really get to know into the essence of man, which we give power. Subsequently we swear, protest against the lawlessness. The result is what at the beginning of the independence of Ukraine's population was 52 million, but now at the beginning of 2016 is less than 40 million people in the state. Some people fled to other countries, many in no hurry to have 2 children, and lots ones simply cannot have children by virtue of health problems or financial situation. A lot of people just dying because of the poor quality medicine in Ukraine. And we still tolerate such doctors, government officials and politicians. One reason for this principle is the patience of many Ukrainians who tolerate violations too long. Ukrainians have too much reluctance to change anything before it is too late.

Tolerance of Ukrainian people is very great, but periodically it ends, then Maidan happens. During less democratic history periods there were riots, often bloody. Previous (Soviet) authorities response on that by sending those disgruntled people to Kolyma or into psychiatric hospitals. The most terrible repression of Ukrainians was carried out by Soviet government as the Famine 32 - 33 years when food was withdrawn from the population of Ukraine and artificially organized famine. The death of Ukrainians from such a "gift" of Soviet government was more than 4 million Ukrainians.

On the other hand the mentality of the Ukrainians is not simple, some of us try to invent the way how to have benefit from anything. Only few Ukrainians behave like these, but these are the people which often try to get into government offices to high positions, because that is where they can control the large financial flows. Why to work at the plant when the "right" governmental position can make a lot of money by signing one paper. Daily earnings of those people can be as much as factory worker can make for a life or for years of car rental business in Kiev - Borispol, as we do.
